Baby Shower

At first thought, throwing a baby shower doesn’t seem to be such a big task. However, you quickly realize the importance and difficulty of hosting a baby shower no matter if you are a best friend, sister, daughter or close family member. Once important thing to keep in mind is that these parties do not have to be over-the-top extravagant, but it does need to serve a life-time of memories. Some common obstacles to overcome include: organizing schedules, finding a central location to host the party, deciding what food & drinks should be served, how much, how long the party should go, start time and finish time, what games to host, how to fill up time, how many people to invite, who to invite and what to give to your guests. These are just a few questions that often are faced with frustratingly complicated answers. But, after all that hard work, you will find the memories created could never be replaced.

So, where did this celebration begin? According to most records, baby showers date back to the 1800’s mommies-to-be were “showered” with gifts for there new child. The shower was focused on the mother and surrounded by close female friends and family. The baby shower gifts may have changed materials, but the general principles remain the same. These are gifts that the mother will need for her child that she currently does not have or have enough of. Baby showers are typically thrown in the afternoons on a weekend when everyone can attend and the new mother doesn’t have to over extend herself. This is the same reason the shower is only held for a few hours and serves light foods. Since there are not the same demands as purchasing groceries for a house party, showers offer more elegant foods that cost a little more. Since there is less being served, higher quality is a little easier to accommodate. Discover some ideas for baby shower favors and baby shower ideas.
