There are 4 main types of baby cribs: standard, round, convertible and canopy. Standard cribs are made in two different models. One style typically has a single drop side, which refers to the side wall for easier access to the baby. The other type is one that features double dropping sides. These are perfect for placing in the middle of a room where you will accessing your child from either side. The single drop side cribs are better suited for a crib that will be placed against a wall.
Convertible cribs get their name from the ability to transform from a standard crib to a toddler bed. It can further be adjusted to form into a day bed without any sidewalls. These are great additions to purchase a bed that can grow with your child and is offered in a variety of sizes.
Canopy cribs are distinguished by the four posts on each corner of the bed. These post support a frame (generally metal) that has a clothe canopy placed over it. This type of cribs is usually found in a nursery for a luxurious style and elegant look.
Round cribs feature a unique round or oval shape that serves a modern update from the conventional rectangular beds. A Round beds benefit is that a baby can lay in any direction without be cramped or forced into an awkward sleeping position. These cribs can also tuck neatly into a corner and offer a designer aesthetic to any room.
